Nutrifaster Commercial Juicer Review-Is it Worth the Price?

Nutrifaster Commercial JuicerYes, the Nutrifaster juicer price is high, but is it worth the price?  It’s definitely one of, if not the best industrial juicer on the market.  It makes totally pulp-free juice and is used in most juice bars as the commercial quality juicer of choice.

If you’re interested in opening a juice bar or adding fresh made fruit and vegetable juice to your restaurant or just want a heavy duty juicer for your family’s needs, the Nutrifaster n450 Commercial centrifugal juicer is the one you’ll want.

4.2 Stars (4.2 / 5)

If you have a large family and want to live a healthy lifestyle, this juicing machine will hold up to many years of regular use. The cost isn’t so much when you consider the money you could save by each member of your family living a healthy life with more nutrition and less illnesses.

Is This a Masticating or Centrifugal Juicer?

Nutrifaster N450 Multi Purpose JuicerNutrifaster N450 Multi Purpose JuicerThis is a centrifugal juicing machine, which may seem strange because of the price. Usually the masticating juicers are the more expensive ones because they retain more nutrients because of the slow “chewing and squishing” factor.

But the fact that this juicer is a commercial one and meant for fast juicing, the juice will normally be drank within 15 minutes or so of being made, which is the time frame in which you would get the most nutrients from a centrifugal juicer.

How Easy is the Nutrifaster to Clean?

As with most juicers, it really is fairly easy to clean. I know that’s the worst part of juicing, but it’s easy to disassemble and clean the:

  • juice pan
  • screen basket
  • cutter blade
  • top
  • and the food pusher

As with every juicer, be sure to scrub the screen thoroughly to get any lodged pulp out of the tiny holes. You can also put all the parts in the dishwasher except for the housing unit.

For commercial use, there are instructions in the manual on sanitizing the juicer at the beginning of each day and instructions for soaking the parts in a cleaning solution at the end of each day.

With this machine, it’s very important to keep the basket and cutter blade as clean and in as good shape as possible to prevent problems or even possibly damage to the machine.

How Big is the Nutrifaster Commercial Juicer?

The dimensions are 12 x 16 x 19 inches tall. As you’ll see in the video below, it is quite larger than what it looks like in the images. And with it weighing in around 61 lbs. you definitely don’t want to have to be moving it around every day if it’s in your home. You would need a place for it to permanently sit on your counter.

Plus, I find it much more motivating and encouraging to juice every day, sometimes multiple times a day if my juicer is sitting out on the counter. The motor runs on 1.25 hp at 3450 rpms.

What Kind of Blades Come With This Juicer?

There’s one stainless steel cutter plate blade that comes with the Nutrifaster juicer machine. It has 16 rows of cutting blades so be very careful when handling this plate. This main cutter is for fruits and vegetables although it can be used for leafy greens also.

They do have another blade – a shredder cutting blade that’s for use with leafy greens – that you can order separately here. The cutter plate can be resharpened and is recommended to be done every 2-4 months of commercial use.

Some signs of the cutter blade needing to be sharpened would be the pulp being too wet or needing to use more produce than normal to get the same yield and even finding it difficult to push the produce through the chute.

Will the Nutrifaster Commercial Juicer Overheat With Prolonged Use?

It does have an automatic shut-off valve if the motor starts overheating. There’s a reset button to push after it cools down, as it won’t reset on its own. However, this is a very heavy duty machine and it would probably take running it for more than 1/2 hr at a time to cause it to overheat.

It’s meant for heavy duty juicing, so the motor can handle large quantities of fruits and vegetables passing through it. In fact, you should push produce through rather quickly with this juicer. This helps with efficient extraction.

How Much Pulp Gets Into the Juice?

Actually, this is one of the most efficient at removing pulp, leaving the juice smooth and pulp free. Pulp is ejected through a plastic tube that can be directed behind the counter into a bucket or something below the counter.

With this feature you can do continuous juicing without stopping to clean out the pulp collector after every glassful.

The plastic pulp tube can also be cut down to size if you would rather have the pulp receptacle on the counter such as in a home environment.

What Kind of Warranty Does it Have?

It does only have a 1 yr limited warranty.

There Must Be Some Negative Aspects

There really are only a couple of negatives. To be truly efficient at juicing leafy greens and wheatgrass, you would probably need to purchase the shredder cutting blade.

Also, it is very heavy, being a commercial grade juicer, so would not be a good choice for a home where it would have to be moved around a lot.

Some Tips For Using This Nutrifaster n450 Juicer Extractor

With some juicers it’s recommended to bunch up leafy greens and push through the food chute. Not with this one. They recommend you put a few leaves in at a time and follow up with firmer vegetables. Otherwise it could stress the motor if you bunch them up.

With this juicer the best way to run citrus fruit through the chute is to cut the pieces slightly larger than the chute opening and squeeze them down through the chute, pressing firmly with the food plunger.

Citrus and tropical fruits should be peeled of their outer peelings, but leave the white underside of the citrus fruit, as it contains Vit. C and bioflavonoids. Some tropical fruit peelings may contain fertilizer chemicals if they come from other countries that don’t have the stringent laws against using them.

It’s best to end the juice making process with a firm piece of food, pushing it through fast and with some pressure. This will help get the most juice out and the most pulp extracted.

To Summarize

In all honesty, if I had the money, I’d be buying this commercial juicer machine today. But I don’t. I realize this is only one of many Nutrifaster juicer reviews, but hopefully someone reading this will    Check it Out on Amazon,   make a purchase and come back with comments on what they think of it.

It’s quiet, heavy duty, makes a high yield of juice free of pulp, will last many years with regular use, but you may need to get the shredder blade if you want to mostly juice leafy greens and wheatgrass.

The price is high, but is a good investment for a juice bar or restaurant or health club.

And if you just want an excellent juicer for your family, the price tag may be worth it if it keeps your family healthier and away from doctors – something to consider.

If you need to, you should be able to find most Nutrifaster n450 Commercial Juicer parts on Amazon.

Cuisinart CJE-1000 Juicer Review – Is It Worth It?

Cuisinart CJE-1000 1000-Watt 5-Speed Juice ExtractorFor the price, the Cuisinart CJE-1000 1000-Watt 5-Speed Juice Extractor is a good middle of the road juicer.  I’m going to start right out by saying the most complaints about this juicer are that it doesn’t produce the driest pulp and doesn’t seem to produce as much juice as expected.

However, the main thing to remember about buying a juicer or any product for that matter is that you’re not going to find one that’s 100% perfect in every area.  They all have their pros and cons, and a juicer that costs less than $150 is probably not going to be as wonderful as one that costs twice as much.

4.2 Stars (4.2 / 5)        And as always, there will be those individual products that have factory defects.

This is a centrifugal juicer, so the pulp will not be as dry as a masticating juicer.  But it also has 5 speeds, which is more than most juicers.  It’s important to read the directions as to which speed to use for which pieces of produce.

My guess would be that using the slower speeds would actually produce more juice and dryer pulp.  But with 5 speeds, it would be easy to think that juicing on the highest speed would produce the best juice.

Some Features of the Cuisinart Juice Extractor

  • 3″ wide produce chute so many fruits and vegetables can be placed in it whole.
  • An adjustable flow spout specifically designed to keep from dripping.
  • Plastic side latches that allow easy assembly and dis-assembly.
  • A separate foam filter disk that goes under the filter basket to prevent most of the foam from getting into the juice pitcher, plus a foam separator that goes in the pitcher.
  • Housing is stainless steel while most of the other parts are plastic and are safe to wash in the dishwasher on the top rack.
  • Includes recipe book, instruction manual, cleaning brush, a 1 quart pitcher to catch the juice in and a 1 liter container for the pulp.
  • The control dial has a blue LED light to help see the correct settings.LED light on dial
  • All parts that come in contact with food or juice are BPA free

How Big is It?

The measurements are about 15.4 x 11.8 x 19 inches and it weighs about 14 lbs.

Ease of Cleaning

As with all juicers, you should always clean your juicer immediately after use, even before you drink your juice (unless you anticipate a long clean-up).  Having said that, this juicer is easy to clean if done right away.  It doesn’t take long for pulp to dry on the filter and make it difficult to scrub off, but if cleaned immediately and using the provided brush, it should be a breeze. Most of the parts can be cleaned in warm sudsy water or washed in the dishwasher, but I find washing by hand is the best since sometimes dishes will sit in the dishwasher for quite some time before running it and by then the food particles will be stuck pretty good on the items.

The provided cleaning brush should only be used on the filter basket and should not be used on the outside of the housing, nor should you use any product with ammonia or a scouring powder as these will scratch and mar the finish.

Also, remember to put a plastic produce bag in the pulp container before use to make it super easy to get rid of the pulp, preferable dumping it in a compost bin or saving it to use in soups, muffins or other recipes.

If you’re new to composting or want to get started, check out this site about composting.

Noise Factor

This is one of the quieter juicers, making it fairly safe to use while others are sleeping, unless they’re light sleepers such as myself.  Remember, anything with a motor is going to make some noise.  But compared to other juicers, this one is quiet.

Some Things to Remember When Using This or Any Centrifugal Juicer

  • Never try to juice bananas.  They don’t have any juice to extract and it could actually damage the juicer.  If you want a banana in your drink, make juice with other fruits and veggies and then combine the juice and the banana in a blender for a great smoothie.
  • Make sure to read the instructions on how assemble the unit so you can be sure it’s put together correctly.
  • Read the directions for using which speed for which fruit or vegetable.
  • Don’t overfill the food chute as this can cause jamming.

Complaints

As I mentioned before, reviewers had some complaints about lots of juice in the pulp, so they weren’t getting as much juice from the produce as would be expected.  That can be frustrating, since what you’re after is the juice. And produce, especially organic, can be kind of spendy if you’re juicing on a daily basis.

One thing that could possibly slow down the amount of juice coming from any one piece of fruit or vegetable is a build up of pulp in the filter basket If the juice amount seems to be slowing down, stop the juicer and clean out the filter basket to see if that helps.

You might also try running the pulp back through the machine again if there seems to be a lot of juice in the pulp catcher.

But if you’re worried about not getting enough juice and don’t want to run the pulp back through to get more juice out of it, you might want to consider a slightly less expensive centrifugal juicer machine, such as the Jack LaLanne PJP Power Juicer Pro  or a more expensive masticating juicing machine, such as the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer B6000S.

Another negative comment about this Cuisinart juicer is that the lid is slightly difficult to clean because the brush isn’t small enough to get into the crevices to be sure it’s clean and free of bacteria build-up.  You might need to hand wash it and maybe look for a small brush at your local Walmart of other store.

Does it Have a Warranty?

Yes, there is a limited 3 year warranty on this product.

Can the Juicer Run With the Pour Spout Closed?

No.  You should never run this juicer with the pour spout closed.  You can adjust it to a smaller opening if you want less foam, along with using the foam filter disk.  Then when you’re done juicing and have turned the machine off, you can close the spout before removing the juice pitcher so you won’t have drips on your counter.

Some Tips About Juicing

Drinking freshly made organic juice is the best way to quickly get nutrients into your body.  Eating whole fruits and vegetables can take up to an hour to digest while drinking them can take about 15 minutes for the nutrients to be digested and absorbed into the body.  And of course organic produce doesn’t contain the synthetic fertilizers and chemicals that can have an adverse effect on our bodies.

Remember to remove any hard pits or seeds from any fruit you put into the juicer.  They can damage the machine.  Also, it’s a good idea to remove any rinds that you would not normally eat, such as with pineapples or melons.

The pulp from juicing is a great source of fiber, so it can be used in cooking or even blended into a smoothie.  The recipe manual that comes with the product also contains ideas for using the pulp.

With this 5 speed, you should juice soft produce on the slower speeds.  Also, put leafy greens between other pieces of fruit or veggies to get the most juice out of them.

Carrots and beets can be used to balance out the bitterness if you’re just juicing vegetables.  Apples are also great for adding a little sweetness.

Summary

To summarize, the Cuisinart CJE-1000 1000-Watt 5-Speed Juice Extractor is one of the best juicer machines in its price range.  The 5 speeds give a lot of options for juicing different ranges of firmness of  produce.  It’s one of the quietest juicers on the market.  The foam catcher can keep the foam out or if you want foam in the juice, you can also adjust for that.  It will leave less of a mess on the counter because of being able to close the spout after juicing.

But you may find more juice in the pulp (which may or may not be fixed by juicing at lower speeds and making sure the filter is cleaned out) and less in the juice pitcher.

Personally, I think it’s a pretty good buy.

Black & Decker JE2200B Fruit and Vegetable Extractor Review

Are you on the fence as far as juicing is concerned?

Are you wondering if it will really be that beneficial to you or worth the time and effort?

Black & Decker JE2200B2I would suggest, then, that you start out with probably the best affordable juicer, which is the Black & Decker JE2200B 400-Watt Fruit and Vegetable Juice Extractor with Custom Juice Cup. You can find it for a very reasonable price on Amazon. And it actually does just about everything a more expensive centrifugal juicer will do, plus it doesn’t take up much counter space, only measuring about 9″x9″x13″ tall.

3.8 Stars (3.8 / 5)
What Are the Main Features of this Black and Decker Juice Extractor?

  • Stainless steel circular blade attached to the strainer for easy cleaning
  • Large pulp container that is integrated into the juicer to take up less counter space
  • Custom 300 ml. pitcher with a pour spout to catch the juice and easily pour into a glass
  • Quick and easy On/Off switch
  • Dual safety lock mechanism to keep everything in place for a safe, no-spill juicing experience
  • Pulp collector holds 28 oz. of pulp
  • All parts are dishwasher safe except the body housing the motor

The ratings for this juicer are pretty much all over the board. A lot of reviewers really like it, but there are also a lot more mediocre ratings than with other juicers.

For an inexpensive juicer, it does seem to do the job with most fruits and vegetables, even as much as juicing greens such as kale and spinach. But as with other centrifugal juicers, you will want to roll the leaves up in a tight ball and put them through the chute with something firmer such as an apple.

What Kind of Noise Factor is Involved?

This Black and Decker juice extractor has a 400 watt motor and is about as loud as a blender. It’s probably not something you would want to use in a household of light sleepers early in the morning or late at night. But on the other hand, it juices quickly enough that the noise isn’t going to last very long if you’re just making enough for one glass full.

What Handicaps Do You Have With This Juice Machine?

I would say one of the biggest drawbacks is the small opening in the food chute. It’s only about 1 inch by 2 inches, compared to the larger 3 inch opening on the The Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite, so you do have to take extra time to cut up your fruits and veggies.

An apple will probably have to be cut in quarters and carrots should be cut lengthwise. Sometimes, though, when you want to spend less money, you have to make it up by spending more time and some people have more time than money.

Another thing that is a little different from other juicers is that the cutter/filter basket snaps into place inside the juice separator and in order to get it back out, you have to pull up on the separator to detach it and then the cutter/strainer basket will drop right out. This seems to cause some people a little trouble, but I imagine it’s just something that takes time to get used to.

Something else a couple of reviewers were having trouble with was the latching mechanisms on the side. They said they were difficult to latch but my thoughts on that are they might have been trying to forcefully detach them or something.

They should, in fact, easily fit in place if everything is attached properly. What you have to do is, when attaching, just position the top of the latch over the lip in the cover and then snap down. When unlatching, simply lift up on the latch from the bottom and it should easily unhook from the lip in the cover.

What Kind of Warranty Does It Have?

The warranty is only for 2 years and is limited to defects from the original manufacturer. So if you misuse it or drop it or something and it breaks, you won’t get a replacement.

Some Tips For Getting the Most Out of Your New Juicer

  • When juicing hard vegetables such as carrots or sweet potatoes or beet root, instead of cutting them into blocks or chunks, try slicing them lengthwise, just wide enough to fit into the chute. This will keep the motor from bogging down and will extract the juice quicker.
  • With softer fruit such as pears or tomatoes you might have to run the pulp back through the juicer a second time to get all the juice out. It’s entirely up to you if you want to get more out of the pulp or not.
  • Putting a produce bag in the pulp collector will not only make it easier to clean out, but also easier to dump the pulp back into the juicer if you do want to run it through again.
  • If you’re planning on juicing large quantities at a time, be sure to stop the juicer and empty the pulp container before it gets too full and also take out the cutter/filter basket and clean it out so it doesn’t get too clogged.
  • When juicing anything, especially the harder foods, don’t fill the chute up full. Just feed the produce through one at a time and gently press down with the food plunger to get the juice out.
  • If you’d like to add a little extra flavoring, put a small piece of ginger through the juicer first.

To Summarize

If you just want to get your feet wet in the juicing craze and not spend an arm and a leg, the best juicer for the money will probably be the Black & Decker JE2200B 400-Watt Fruit and Vegetable Juice Extractor.

It’s a little noisy, but has a good strong motor for quick juicing and can even juice leafy greens if you wad them into a tight bundle.

You can get it very inexpensively whereas other centrifugal juicers can run in the hundreds of dollars.

The clean up is easy but as with most juicers, you’ll want to do it right after juicing to prevent dried on particles of food and staining. Using a brush will help clean the strainer basket. And it’s compact enough to sit on your counter ready to extract your next glass of nutrient dense juice.

The Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite 1000-Watt Juice Extractor Review

This Is One of the Best Centrifugal Juicers On the Market

The Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain EliteThe Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite 1000-Watt Juice Extractor is an attractive, sturdy, powerful centrifugal juicer that you would be proud to display on your counter top.  It definitely is a 5 star product.  Out of 2,130 ratings on Amazon at the time of this writing, 1,623 gave it a 5 star rating.

Although the parts for the Breville juicers are manufactured and assembled in China, they are designed and engineered in Australia.  Constructed of heavy grade stainless steel, it’s built to last, looks very modern and is easy to clean.
4.6 Stars (4.6 / 5)

Features:

  • Nutri Disc with cutting blades reinforced with titanium, attached to the filter basket
  • 34 oz. juice pitcher with a froth separator
  •  3″ wide chute to handle medium size apples and oranges without having to cut them in half
  • Die-cast metal body for attractiveness and ease of cleaning
  •  Large pulp container with a handle for easy disposal
  •  A short cord that wraps around the feet under the base for out of sight storage between uses
  •  Locking arm that holds everything tightly in place
  • Protection from over-heating with a shut-off valve that senses when it is over-stressed
  • Instruction manual with a few juicing recipes

How Does it Clean Up?

This Breville Juice Fountain is easy to clean as long as you do it immediately after juicing.  All the pieces come apart easily and the juice collector, Nutri Disc, pulp collector and pitcher can be washed in the dishwasher on the top rack.  However, the food pusher should be washed by hand in the sink, which only takes a few seconds.

The filter basket should be scrubbed out using the included brush to keep it from getting clogged.  If it does seem to be getting particles stuck in it, you can soak it in warm soapy water for several minutes and then scrub and rinse.

One of the best ways to keep from having to clean the pulp collector is to simply line it with a produce bag.  You can then freeze the pulp, use it in muffins or soup, or put it out in the compost pile.  If you happen to raise worms, they would love the pulp as well.

How Large is it?

This juice extractor stands 17″ tall and doesn’t take up much room width-wise so if you have a tall enough space on your counter, it will look nice sitting out there all the time, ready for use.  It weighs about 9 lbs., so it’s actually lighter than some others.

The two speed controls give you the option of running soft fruits and vegetables through on the low, 6500 rpm, speed or firmer produce at the faster, 13,000 rpm speed.

At 1000 watts, this juicer zips through just about any juicy produce you can toss in it.  That means you can’t put bananas, avocados, or nuts in it because they don’t have juice to extricate.  They are best thrown into a blender and you can always add the blender mix to any juice you want after you’re done juicing.  You can make some good smoothies that way.

The 110 volt plug will work in any electrical outlet in your home and also has a handy finger hole integrated into the plug so you can remove it from the outlet very easily without pulling on the cord itself.

However, you don’t want to run your juicer on the same current as other kitchen appliances IF you are running a few appliances at the same time, as this may cause your juicer to not run at its optimum capacity.

Price and Warranty

Since prices change often on Amazon, it’s best to go there and find out the current price.

However, if you purchase it from Amazon, you have the option of buying the SquareTrade warranty for under $35 and it is good for 3 years for any mechanical or electrical failures.  With this warranty you also receive free two way shipping if you should need to return your machine for repairs or replacement.

Does This Breville Juicer Juice Leafy Greens Such as Kale or Spinach?

This, along with other centrifugal juicers, is primarily geared toward juicing fruit and vegetables that are either soft or hard and contain juice.  That being said, there are a few ways to juice leafy greens with this juicer.

Kale

kale

Inserting any produce that is loose and flimsy, such as kale, into the chute by itself, will not do much other than cause it to be thrown into the pulp bin.  If you wrap it up tight into a ball and put it alongside something such as an apple, you should be able to juice it just fine on the higher speed.

You can also ball it up inside a pepper that’s been cut in half. Or you might also want to try wrapping it around something like a carrot.

If you want to juice the kale, spinach or whatever by itself, you will still need to ball it up into a tight, firm ball and juice it on the low speed because it will still be considered a softer piece of produce, which does best on low speed.  However, you might not get as much juice out of leafy veggies with a centrifugal juicer as you would with a masticating one.

Noise Factor

On high speed, this is a little noisier than some machines.  However, putting a towel underneath it can help lessen the noise, but it may be something to consider if you live in an apartment or plan on juicing in the early morning when others might be trying to sleep.

Pros

  • The cutting blades are reinforced for longevity
  • It makes great tasting juice in large quantities
  • It’s fast acting – usually takes just a few seconds to fill an 8 oz. glass
  • The juicing machine will automatically shut off if it gets overloaded and will only re-start after it has cooled down

Cons

  • Because of the friction heat, the juice is quickly oxidized, so you must drink it within minutes to get the full benefit of the enzymes and nutrients
  • A little noisy at high speed
  • Isn’t as good as a masticator for juicing greens and wheatgrass
  • Limited 1 yr. factory warranty
  • The chute is directly above the blade, causing some produce to fly back up the chute after dropping them down.  I do feel that this can be controlled, though, simply by covering the opening with your hand or the food pusher
  • It is more expensive than some other centrifugal juicers

Tips For Keeping Your Breville Juicer in Good Working Order

  • Don’t put nuts or frozen vegetables and fruit in it.  Also remove any pits, such as from apricots and cherries.
  • Peel citrus fruit to prevent an acidic taste in your juice.
  • When juicing large quantities, don’t use the machine on high speed for more than a minute.  Let it rest for a minute to cool it down and prevent the auto shut-off from kicking in.
  • Only use high speed for hard fruits and veggies, as using the slower speed puts more strain on the motor.

If you’re juicing something such as watermelon, with its high water content, be sure to push the food down slowly through the chute to prevent any juice from spilling over the filter housing, which can happen if it gets too much liquid in there at a time.

The official website for The Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite 1000-Watt Juice Extractor is http://www.brevilleusa.com/die-cast-juice-fountain-elite.html

Replacement parts can be found here.

In summary, this is a good juicer for the price and from looking over all the reviews at various sites, I didn’t notice any major problems that couldn’t be dealt with.  So if you’re looking for something a little more heavy duty than a single speed, the Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite may be the juicer for you.

Jack Lalanne PJP Power Juicer Pro Review

Power Juicer Pro – Is It For You?

power juicer proThe Jack Lalanne PJP Power Juicer Pro has a quiet 3600 rpm motor that has a lifetime warranty.  Not too many companies offer a lifetime warranty on any part of their products, so that in itself says that the company stands behind their juicers.

Made of stainless steel, the only plastic parts are the pulp catcher and the food pusher, making it easy to clean and nice looking if you wanted to just leave it out on your counter for daily use.

3.6 Stars (3.6 / 5)

Is Clean-up Easy?

Speaking of the pulp catcher and clean-up, the easiest way to keep it clean is to put a plastic pulp container bagbag in the pulp catcher with each use.  The pulp goes into the bag so you can either toss it in your compost bin, freeze it for use in something later, or put it in the refrigerator to use in salads, soups, or even add a little back into the glass of juice for some added fiber.

Cleaning the power juicer is easy, as each piece comes apart and can be rinsed in your sink, or as I do in nice weather, take the parts outside and hose them off, then finish washing them in the sink by hand.  All the parts are safe to put in the dishwasher except for the motor housing.

On the Jack Lalanne PJP Power Juicer Pro, the blade is not attached to the filter, making it easy to remove and clean after each use.

There is a tool that comes with the juicer that is used to attach and remove the blade.  The important thing to remember when attaching the blade is to not tighten it too tight.  This could break the screw peg.

(Quote by Jack Lalanne: I drink 6 or seven glasses of water a day. I also drink vegetable juice. And I have at least 5 or 6 pieces of fresh fruit everyday and 10 raw vegetables.“)

Some Tips For Getting the Most Out of Your Juicer:

      •  Do not add ice or water to your juicer.  This would cause an overflow of liquid in the receptacle with nowhere to go but out the sides, making a mess.  If you want more liquid in your drink, just add it after you have it in the glass or pitcher.
      • When juicing leafy greens such as spinach or kale, roll them up in something with a harder shell such as a green pepper.  You can cut the pepper in half and stick the greens within and then run it through the Juicer Pro.  You can also wrap the greens around something like celery or carrots.  Don’t put them in loose or they’ll just go into the pulp catcher.
Jack Lalanne

Jack Lalanne

As I read through the reviews on Amazon and other sites, it seems that a lot of people really love this Jack Lalanne juicer and have had no problems with it.

But there are many others that have been disappointed and seem to have either received a lemon of a juicer (pardon the pun) or have possibly mis-used it, causing it to stop working properly.

(For those who don’t know who Jack LaLanne was, I inserted a picture here.  He was the ultimate fitness guru in the 1900s and early 2000s, promoting exercise and proper nutrition through such things as drinking  home made fresh juices.  He died in 2011 at the age of 96.)

A Few Things To Remember in Order To Keep Your Juicer Working in Top Shape:

  •  Let it run for about 10 seconds when you start it up before putting any produce in it.
  •  Do not put any produce down the chute before turning the motor on.
  •  Don’t force any fruit or veggies down the chute with an excess of pressure.  Let the blade do its thing as you gently put pressure on the plunger. You can wiggle the plunger around a little if it seems to need a little help.  Getting impatient and trying to force the food to go through will possibly overheat the unit and cause it to shut down.  It does have a thermal cut-off safety switch that will shut the motor down if it overheats so the motor doesn’t cease up for good. You should be able to re-start it after 10 or 15 minutes, but obviously you would want to avoid this happening.
    • Do not put pits of any kind in this Jack Lalanne juicer, as this could damage the blade and the unit as well.
    • Don’t put over-ripe produce in the unit, as this will create too much pulp and possibly cause the machine to get clogged.
    • Don’t try to juice bananas or avocados, as these do not have actual juice in them and will plug up the machine.  If you want to add them, do it after you have the juice made and blend them in by use of a blender.
    • And as mentioned before, do not pour any liquid into the juicer.

If these simple rules are followed, you should not have any problem with the Jack Lalanne Juicer Pro.  If you ever need any replacement parts, you can find them at http://www.powerjuicer.com/power-juicer-parts-accessories.php

What Does This Juicer Run Price-wise?

It’s always best to check Amazon for current prices, but this juicer does sell for a decent price.

Prospower juicer pro

              •  Can add whole fruits and vegetables as long as they fit in the chute without forcing, although you may want to peel some fruit such as oranges first to avoid the acidic taste that you would get from the rind.
              • Quiet
              • No-drip pour spout that you can remove to clean
              • Stainless steel mesh filter basket
              • Has a large capacity pulp collector

Cons

              • It is fairly large at 17″ tall, so you’ll need a decent sized counter space for it
              • Doesn’t juice greens as well as a masticating juicer but works well with all other veggies and fruits
              • It will clog up if you try juicing any produce that is over-ripe,  try to make too large a quantity of juice at one time, or stuff too much produce in the chute
              • Doesn’t produce as much tomato juice as other juicers using the same amount of tomatoes (according to consumerreports.org) compared to several other juicers
  • According to many reviews, the customer service at www.powerjuicer.com leaves something to be desired.  If you do need to return a juicer to them, it will cost you $29.99.  However, if you purchase from Amazon and need to return it, I believe their return shipping fee is a bit less than that.  Amazon has great customer service and there shouldn’t be any problem returning a defective juicing machine, but it honestly is rare to get a bad one in the first place.

My own Jack Lalanne juicer lasted through a couple years of heavy daily use before the blade got dull enough to need to be replaced.

All in all, if you’re looking for a decent juicing machine, the Jack Lalanne PJP Power Juicer Pro has helped a lot of people start to live a healthier lifestyle through juicing. For the price, it’s a good juicer, although there are better ones out there that will cost a bit more.
